So I thought to set myself a few goals, I'd put together a list of walks that I'd like to tackle:

Surf Coast Walk - Scoutcraft Night 1
Saturday, 9th July 2011 - Jan Juc to Eumeralla Scout Camp (14.8km)
With the promising glimmer of sun through the clouds, I set off from my parents farm in Nirranda South to scuttle off to the Cheeseworld car park to meet one of my two other hiking buddies. After picking up Lauren Holcombe, we raced to Colac to purchase some supplies and meet the third of our merry trio, Jonathan Graham from the Patanga Rover Crew.

Hiking Gear
An aspect of bushwalking that many people get far too caught up in is the collection of gear that they carry about with them - and I suppose that I'm no exception!!
In my last post, I mentioned that I've jumped at any opportunity to build my collection of gear. In this post, I'll give a bit of a run down of the gear that I own and some other gear that I will borrow from the collection at my Scout Group.

Starting out
Well, where to begin?
About me:
I guess I should start with the obvious! I'm a 22 year old university student studying Civil Engineering at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. I've been active in the Scouting Movement since 1995, when I joined up as a Cub Scout in the old khaki uniform with shorts, long socks and the old hat! I'm still very active in the movement as the Scout Leader at 1st Mount Waverley, a Rover with Mahogany Rover Crew and I'm also the current Chair of the Scouts Australia National Youth Council. So by the time that I balance out my studies, my extra-curricular activities and spend some time with my girlfriend and family, I don't have a whole lot of "down-time" for me!!
